We first drive off the beaten paths through The Dutch countryside and head south east for some stunning views like windmills, cheesfarms, barns,
nature, cattle, WW2 remains and even a castle. After that we’ll take the highway and go north east heading Giethoorn where we’ll do the boat tour.
You can join the groupboat for 10 euro each (additional) or you can rent a private boat for 40 euro and I will sail you around.
Or you can do it yourself, that’s up to you. I am an experienced captain. No worries 🙂

Giethoorn in the old days
In the old days peat diggers took peat from the soil. They let it dry and later cut the peat.
Two large floods (in 1776 & 1825) this vulnerable drying banks were washed away and lakes arose around Giethoorn.
Peat extraction until 1920 continued to be of great significance for this region.
For the transportation of the peat ditches and canals were dug.
