The former island of Marken lies just thirty minutes from the city of Amsterdam.
It was seperated from the mainland in the thirteenth century during the formation of the Zuiderzee.
The authentic atmosphere of the old days still prevails on Marken with it’s small alleys, drawbridges and closely
built houses sitting atop mounds to protect them from floods.
During a nice walk through the narrow streets of Marken you will discover the typical atmosphere
of a Dutch smalltown harbour.
